Sayid makes a homemade
compass with a piece of cork, a needle, a magnet and some water. Locke
walks out of the jungle, lies about where he and Boone have been, and
gives his compass to Sayid saying, "I don't need it anymore." While they are talking, Sayid set the new compass down next to the
magnet he was working with. Later, Sayid realizes that the compass is
off by more than 2-3 degrees (which a minor magnetic anomaly might
explain) but Locke's compass is more than that, and talks with Jack
about Locke's odd behavior.
BROKEN COMPASS = LOGIC, LOSS OF
| The compass symbolizes logic. If the compass doesn't work on the island, then logic won't either. Originally posted by toast at the fuselage. |
