Also used in: Shannon challenges Charlie to catch a fish for her so she can prove to Boone she is self sufficient. Hurley comes along and they both try to spear fish with a pole and a piece of shrapnel from the crashed plane. Our resident diary writer on the ABC site has fashioned a fish hook from an earring. (assuming it worked to have it listed as functional)

Also Used in: The Moth Sayid tries to triangulate the French transmission, in order to find the source of the signal. (He starts to get it to work, but is clipped on the head by Locke, before he can pinpoint anything - so it almost worked)
