Wire Hatch Harness
Locke fashions a harness to lower Kate into the hatch. He uses two trees as leverage, but they snap (hence the non-functional rating) but it did work for a few moments. Jack uses the wires to slide down the hatch opening. Just as Locke did after Kate was seemingly snatched into thin air from the hatch tunnel.
