The cast of Beverly Hillbillies, Jethro on far right
The Beverly Hillbillies
Sawyer calls Hurley "Jethro". Perhaps a little
payback for Hurley calling him the same name in the episode Walkabout? He's teasing Hurley for his crush on Libby who is on her way
to do laundry at the Hatch.
Quote:
Sawyer: Well, well, look who's off to the laundromat? Well, go on. I'm sure you've got a load you need to drop in, don't you, Jethro?

Cast of Bonanza, Hoss is on the bottom right
Bonanza
Sawyer once again uses the name "Hoss" and this time it's Hurley. Since
the character Hoss on Bonanza was a big guy, this was obviously used by
Sawyer in reference to Hurley's large frame, but it doesn't seem to be
in a derogatory sense by Sawyer, he was actually encouraging Hurley to
further his interest in Libby.
Quote:
Sawyer: Well, your moment is now, Hoss. Hey Libby!
Bonanza premiered in 1959. Set in Nevada, in the 1860s, Bonanza
chronicled the adventures of the Cartwright family who owned a large
ranch - The Ponderosa. Dan Blocker played the role of Eric "Hoss"
Cartright from 1959 - 1972. Read more at Fiftiesweb.com
