In White Rabbit, Boone tries to save Joanna from drowning. But instead, Jack saves Boone's life, but failes to save Joanna. This triggers a confrontation between Boone and Jack.
Boone: "You think you're all noble and heroic for coming after me? I was fine. You're not the only one who knows what to do around here, you know that? I run a business. Who appointed you our saviour, huh? What gives you the right.... "

CRUCIFY
An interesting choice of words from Jack when defending Boone who hid the last of the survivors water supply.
Jack: "Leave him alone. It's been 6 days and we're all still waiting. Waiting for someone to come. But what if they don't? We have to stop waiting. We need to start figuring things out. A woman died this morning just going for a swim and he tried to save her, and now you're about to crucify him?"

JACK SHEPHARD
Is it coincidence that Jack's last name is Shepard? Jack is the proverbial "shepherd" taking care of his flock, protecting them, caring for them, and tending their wounds. This can be paralleled with Jesus tending his "flock".
3The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice

It is also interesting to note that the name "Jack" is often a nickname for John. In The Moth Sawyer refers to him as "Saint Jack". Can Saint Jack equate to Saint John?
CHRISTIAN SHEPHARD
Another interesting choice of charactor name. Except Christian Shepard doesn't act very "Christian".
