When Sawyer, Michael, Jin & Walt are sailing away on the raft, Sawyer starts singing "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley. "Redemption Song" was a plaintive, almost Dylanesque acoustic spiritual song, devoid of any trace of reggae. When Marley sang it, he wore the expression of a playful child, but his voice bore the authority of a Biblical patriarch. From Bob Marley.com
After Locke had his run-in with the monster security system, he and Jack have a conversation about their different feelings toward the island.
LOCKE: "That's why you and I don't see eye-to-eye sometimes, Jack - because you're a man of science."
JACK: "Yeah, and what does that make you?"
LOCKE: "Me, well, I'm a man of faith."
PATIENCE OF A SAINT
Michael and Sawyer have a conversation about Walt's wild ways.
SAWYER: "You know what I like about you, Mike? You've got the patience of a saint."
MICHAEL: "Yeah? Why do you say that?"
SAWYER: "I've seen the way he talks to you - the way he runs around, does whatever the hell he wants. I'd have showed him the back of my hand a long time ago."
