Kate flirts with Jack, teasing him about his tattoos. As Charlie puts it, they are verbally copulating.
| Quote: | KATE: (o.s.) (teasing) It's not like I'm asking you a personal question.
JACK: (o.s.) It is a personal question.
KATE: (o.s.) You don't have to get all quiet on me. I just want to know.
(Over on the side, Jack is sitting on some plane parts with his backpack. Kate stands over him, packing more empty water bottles into the backpack he's wearing.)
JACK: Well, you're not gonna know.
KATE: (chuckles) What's the big deal?
JACK: It's not a big deal. (She zips the backpack closed.) It's just
something I did. I have my reasons, and I don't want to put it out there.
(As the two talk, Sun watches them.)
(Kate reaches down and secures the backpack strap around Jack's waist.)
KATE: It's just that you and your tattoos don't add up.
(They look at each other. Kate waits a beat for a response, but Jack doesn't give her one.)
KATE: Are you one of those hardcore spinal surgeons?
JACK: (chuckles) That's me. Hardcore.
(Kate reaches down and they stuff more empty water bottles into their
backpacks.)
(Charlie interrupts them. Kate puts her own backpack on.)
CHARLIE: If you guys are finished verbally copulating, we should get a move on.
CHARLIE: And the Great White Hunter is getting restless.
(Locke looks up at Charlie.)
JACK: Okay, let's do this.
(Jack heads off. Kate and Charlie follow.)
KATE: (teasing) Hey, Charlie, ask Jack about his tattoos.
CHARLIE: (dryly) Oh, you guys have an inside joke. How absolutely wonderful for you both. |
