Sayid chooses to reveal that he
speaks English when American soldiers raid the offices where Sayid and
his fellow soldiers are frantically shredding documents.
Sayid, understanding the Americans' orders, tells the Iraqi shredding
documents to stop in order to save him. By revealing that he speaks
English, he is then taken
by the American soldiers and used for their interrogation purposes.
In TABULA RASA,
Kate and Ray Mullen are involved in a car crash with the Marshall. In
the aftermath of the crash, Kate chooses to pull Mullen to safety and
as a result,
she is captured by the Marshall.
In WHITE RABBIT,
young Jack steps in to protect Mark Silverman who is being beaten by
bullies. They tell Jack to stay out of it, but he chooses to help his
friend,
and is beaten as a result.
In THE 23RD PSALM,
the bad rebel men demand that Eko's younger brother, Yemi, shoot the
old man. Eko steps in, takes the gun and commits the murder to protect
his brother.
The rebels then take Eko with them.
Sayid tortures Henry Gale in the vault. Sayid begins questioning
Gale about his dead wife, Jennifer. Sayid asks Gale about the grave
that Gale dug for Jennifer's body,
and Gale responds by asking Sayid if he lost someone, too. Sayid
reveals that he did, begins to cry, and Desmond adds "Hurting me isn't
going to bring her back."
Sayid begins beating Gale, instead of continuing with the torture, and
Jack breaks into the vault stopping Sayid. Gale escapes Sayid.
In ORIENTATION
Jack chases Desmond into the jungle when Desmond flees what he thinks
is impending disaster inside the hatch. Jack has his gun drawn and
demands that
Desmond answer his questions. When Jack asks Desmond why he is running,
Desmond responds by diverting the conversation back to Jack and how
Desmond
remembers meeting him in Los Angeles. Desmond then asks Jack what
happened to the girl they talked about when they met in the stadium.
Jack reveals that he
married her, begins to cry, and Desmond adds "Right, and you're not
married to her anymore, then?" Jack lowers his gun, and Desmond
escapes.

Sayid holds Henry Gale hostage in the hatch, tying him up. Sayid
questions Gale about how he arrived on the island, about the Others,
and about Jennifer. He also uses physical torture (pliers and beating).
In SOLITARY,
Danielle holds Sayid hostage in her bunker, tying him down. Danielle
questions Sayid about how he arrived on he island, about the Others,
and about Nadia. She also uses physical torture (electrocution).
Jack cleans up Henry's blood off the floor of the Swan Hatch.
In THREE MINUTES, Michael cleans Libby's blood off the floor of the Swan Hatch.
