  • KATE: I want to tell you what I did - why he was after me.

ALL THE BEST COWBOYS HAVE DADDY ISSUES
  • Boone and Locke discuss their pasts:

LOCKE: So Boone, what did you do in the real world?

BOONE: I run a business.

LOCKE: What kind of business?

BOONE: Uh, it's a wedding thing.

LOCKE: Huh?

BOONE: My mother has this empire. The Martha Stewart of matrimony. I run one of the subsidiaries.

LOCKE: So who's running it now?

BOONE: I guess it doesn't matter now, does it?

HEARTS AND MINDS
  • Shannon shows up at Boone's hotel room:

SHANNON: I knew you'd bring the money. I knew you would.

BOONE: You're drunk.

SHANNON: You want to know why?

BOONE: I guess it doesn't matter, does it? Because you're going to tell me anyway.

SHANNON: Because you're in love with me.

NUMBERS
  • Claire reveals to Locke that she was planning on giving the baby up for adoption:

LOCKE: You think of a name yet?

CLAIRE: Huh?

LOCKE: For the baby.

CLAIRE: Hadn't really thought about it. I was going to give it away, you know, for adoption.

LOCKE: That must have been a difficult decision.

CLAIRE: Yeah, well, it doesn't matter now. It's my birthday today.

LOCKE: Why haven't you told anyone?

CLAIRE: I'm pregnant, single, and on an island in the middle of nowhere. It doesn't really matter that it's my birthday, does it?

LOCKE: I guess not. At least your birthdays will be close together, and that's good luck.

DEUS EX MACHINA
  • Locke reveals to Boone that he was once in a wheelchair:

LOCKE: I was in a wheelchair.

BOONE: What?

LOCKE: Paralyzed for 4 years. The plane—our plane—I was in that chair when we took off. But not after we crashed.

BOONE: Why were you in a wheelchair?

LOCKE: It doesn't matter anymore. But, but, this island, it changed me. It made me whole. Now it's trying to take it back and I don't know why. But it wants me to follow what I saw.

  • Boone and Locke find the Beechcraft:

BOONE: Is that the plane you saw?

LOCKE: As best I can tell.

BOONE: You really saw it?

LOCKE: Yeah, I really saw it.

BOONE: How long do you think it's been there?

LOCKE: Doesn't matter. What's important is that we found it. What's important is what's inside it.
