Airplanes

Locke goes to the Flightline Hotel to meet with Anthony Cooper. He has brought him his money. But Helen shows up. Locke tries to smooth things over, he gets on bended knee in the parking lot and offers an engagement ring and asks her to marry him. She can't believe he has chosen to listen to his father yet again. As she drives away, up above in the skies...an omen? An Oceanic airplane flies over him.

Anthony Cooper is presumed dead, but his coffin, as learned later, is empty.

The Safety Deposit Box

Cooper asks Locke to retrieve a safety deposit box for him. Cooper explains that inside the box are the proceeds of his last con, and that he is afraid that the very bad men he conned will be watching the bank, looking for him. Locke agrees to retrieve the box and its contents. The box is number 1516.
