Kate and Sayid explore the basement of the Flame Hatch and discover a number of file boxes in storage.

Amira tells Sayid a story about how she found her pet cat:

AMIRA: After my husband and I first arrived to Paris, I was afraid to ever leave our apartment. So I would stare out the window into the alley and I would see this cat looking for scraps. One day, some children came into the alley and trapped it in a box. I watched them light firecrackers...and drop them in the box. I could hear him howl from 3 stories above. So finally, I had a reason to leave my apartment. I rescued this cat and I brought him home.

Computers

Locke finds a computer in the Flame Hatch that comes complete with a chess game. Once Locke beats the computer (or does he?) he is given a number of different options to communicate with the mainland. Eventually he is instructed to Enter 77 if the "hostiles" have breached the facility. He does, and it explodes.

Fire

By entering "77" in the computer, Locke inadvertantly blows up the Flame Hatch.
