Shannon, in  a snit, refuses the  chocolate bar that Boone offers her the night of the plane crash.

BOONE: Shannon, we may be here for awhile.
SHANNON: The plane had a black box, idiot. They know exactly where they are, they're coming. I'll eat on the rescueboat.

When Jack is making his way back to the beach after waking up in the jungle after the crash, the camera pans to a single shoe hanging in a tree. A grim reminder of the tragedy of a plane crash.

Kate, needing a new pair of shoes before heading on the trip to the cockpit with Jack, removes a pair of boots from a dead body.
