Chinatown


Sawyer calls Pickett "Chinatown" which is a 1974 movie starring Jack Nicholson whose character also sports a bandaged nose just like Pickett does in the episode.  Of course the reason his nose looks like it was in a fight is all Sawyer's doing.

Pulp Fiction

Sawyer is bound to a table with the Others about the inject him with a huge needle.  One of the Others directs how to inject him, "No, you have to go through the sternum -- the sternum, like in the movie."

That movie would likely be Pulp Fiction where John Travolta's character plunges a huge needle into Uma Thurman.

Quote from movie:

LANCE Well, you're giving her an injection of adrenalin straight to her heart. But she's got a breast plate in front of her heart, so you gotta pierce through that. So what you gotta do is bring the needle down in a stabbing motion.
