Hurley and Johnny quit their jobs at Mr. Clucks, a fast-food chicken
joint. That night they go out and are playing pranks on their ex-boss
Randy. They gathered garden gnomes and arranged them in the front yard
of Randy's house spelling out "Cluck You". As Randy comes running out
of the house they take off in the van and Johnny yells out the window "Freedom"!
This word is emphasized in the movie Braveheart when Mel Gibson's
character, William Wallace yells "They may take our lives, but they
will never take our.... freedom!
In this episode Johnny, Hurley's friend in his flashback sequence, tells him to "stay gold ponyboy", a direct reference to this movie in which the line derived. The character Ponyboy has a friend named Johnny also and the two hang out and get into some trouble.
Sawyer refers to Ana Lucia as "Rambina", a reference to the Rambo movies where Rambina is the female version of Rambo.
Quote:
Sawyer: Well, let me break it down for you, Mikey. Right now, Rambina and her buddies are trying to figure out what to do with us. Until they make up their damn mind there ain't nothing we can do.
As for the word Rambo or Rambina in popular culture, the name has become a byword for a 'tactic' of mindless aggression.
