Michael and Jin are working on the raft and Michael tells Jin "No, this one goes there and that one goes here". This is the same line from Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back when Han and Chewie are working on the Millenium Falcon getting reading to leave the Hoth system. We have an impatient ship captain (Michael), in a hurry to leave, lecturing his assistant (whose language is incomprehensible to the audience) (Jin) on how to repair a broken part of the ship (raft).   Nice parallel and shoutout to the epic film.

Memoirs of a Geisha

A background character at the airport (Gina) remarked that Sun's subservience to Jin was like "Memoirs of a Geisha come to life."

In training to be a geisha the first stage of training was called shikomi. When girls first arrived at the okiya, they would be put to work as maids, or do everything they are told.
