The Skeletons in the Cave

When Jack, Kate, Charlie & Locke hike back to the caves that Jack found, they discover a pair of skeletons. (HORS)

Then Charlie and Locke come up and Charlie see the skeletons.

Since the skeletons date back 40-50 years, there has been some speculation that they could be Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan, who crashed their plane somewhere in the approximate vicinity our Lostaways are. Their bodies and plane wreckage were never found.

Also of note, in a Lost Podcast, Damon and Carlton said an anagram in the episode Not In Portland was a clue to the skeletons in the cave.  The anagram turned out to be Mittelos, or "Lost Time"
