The Monster
Hearts and Minds

Boone hears Shannon screaming for help. He frees himself from his bondsand runs to untie her. They are chased by the "monster", which moves quickly behind them shooting trees straight into the air. They hide in what appear to be mangrove roots; the brush in front of them separates and a spotlight seems to shine down on them. After a few moments, silence reigns again and the creature moves away. Believing they are safe, they leave the shelter. Boone tells Shannon about the hatch. The "monster" appears again, seeming to swoop down from above and scoop Shannon up from the air, screaming. Boone finds her crushed and bloody in a streambed. He makes his way back to camp to confront Locke and realizes the whole ordeal was a hallucination.
