John "happens" upon Sayid in the jungle. He asks him what he is doing. Sayid tells him he is trying to make something of Rousseau's maps. John tells him there is nothing to make. He gives him a compass after noticing that Sayid has made one. Sayid later tells Jack the compass John gave him was broken.
