FLASHBACK SUMMARY:
Ana Lucia's mother confronts her
with the body of Jason Elder, the man who shot Ana, and who Ana shot
and killed in retaliation. She encourages Ana to allow her to help, but
Ana quits the force and runs away. She finds a job as a security guard
at the Los Angeles airport--a job she loathes.
At the airport bar, a stranger strikes up a
conversation with Ana. He suggests that she come to Australia with him, and
serve as his bodyguard. They make up fake identities for each other:
"Tom," and "Sarah."Once in Australia, the two hole up in a hotel for 4 days, before
Christian bangs on her door and says that it's time. They drive into
the pouring rain to a house, where Christian bangs on the door and
demands to be allowed to see his daughter. The woman in the door
refuses him entry, and Ana drags him away from the door. Later, Christian refuses to talk about
what Ana just witnessed. He tells her he can't go home, and then
suggests that they both go be pathetic together, and have a drink or
ten. Ana refuses, and as Christian opens the door of the car to stumble
into the bar, he hits Sawyer.
While at the airport, Ana sees Jack at the ticket counter, yelling about his dead father. Ana realizes she's made a mistake, and calls her mother, telling her that she is on flight 815 and coming home.
