Jack is the focus of this flashback. He is on the verge of a divorce, but can't let go of Sarah without knowing who the other guy is. He stalks her at the school where she teaches, hoping to catch her with him. At a divorce meeting, Jack shows up instead
of his attorney. Sarah is none too pleased. She receives a phone call,
which drives Jack to ask her what "his" name is. She walks out in
disgust. Secretly, he gets Sarah's cell phone contact list and starts calling the numbers on it. His father, who is there at the time, gets a phone call. It's Jack calling from the list. Jack goes off, thinking that dear daddy has is "him." Later, while tending to a patient, Jack sees his father yet again take a phone call, laughing and carrying on. He follows him from the hospital to a hotel. His father has been going to AA meetings and has been sober for 50 days. Jack goes off on him yet again, accusing him of sleeping with Sarah. He punches his father and ends up in jail, where Sarah posts bail. She leaves and "he" is waiting outside for her. Jack asks if that is him, and Sarah answers: "It doesn't matter who he is, it just matters who you're not."
