Kate is in Australia as a fugitive, using the name Annie and claiming to be Canadian. Ray Mullen finds her sleeping in an outbuilding and in exchange for help around his farm, he offered her some money and a home.

Almost 3 months later, in the middle of the night Kate attempted to sneak out of the house. Ray caught her and insists he drive her to the train station the next morning.

While they were on their way to the train station, their truck was followed by a US Marshal named Edward Mars. Ray had seen Kate's picture on a wanted poster at the post office and turned her in for the cash reward of $23,000 to help with a mortgage his deceased wife left him with.

Kate grabs the wheel and drives off the road, rolling the truck. Instead of running away as soon as she escapes the truck, she pulls Ray away from the wreck, giving the Marshal time to capture her.
