FLASHBACK SUMMARY:
Jin is ordered by Mr. Paik to "send a message" to Byung Han. Misunderstanding the order, Jin botches the hit job by giving Han a verbal warning. In gratitude, Han gives Jin a puppy, which Jin takes home to Sun.
In the background of the apartment, Han's young daughter watches Hurley's Winning Lotto Interview on Korean TV. The tv ticker translates as: Fortunate Winner, Los Angelos California.
Mr. Paik orders Jin to drive White Suit to finish the job. When he is sent back a second time to drive White Suit to the hit, he saves Mr. Han from sure death by beating him severely. When he returns home his hands are covered in blood.
This resolves the mystery that was planted in House of the Rising Sun when Sun saw him come in with bloody hands and questioned him. It appears that Jin did not tell Sun what he did, only that he was working for her father and that he was doing it for her.
Jin's Father:
Sun is under the belief that Jin's father is dead. Jin visits his father, a humble village fisherman after he he refuses to carry out the hit on Byung Han for his father-in-law, Mr. Paik.
He admits that he was ashamed of his father. His father welcomes him back, tells him that life is good, and encourages him to get away from Mr. Paik and start live over following his dreams.
In this scene, Jin is a symbolic Prodigal Son.
