FLASHBACK SUMMARY:
The flashbacks in this episode are some of our Lostaways and what they were doing just before the doomed flight.
We first see a flashback of Jin and Sun in the airport having a bit to eat. Sun hands Jin a sandwich and as she places it in front of him she spills his coffee. Jin gets up to wash up.
We quickly then see Sayid and an airport security guard. The guard is aplogizing for the inconvenience that has occurred. Someone reported (Shannon in a fit of anger at Boone) his bag was unattended, when in reality, Sayid asked Shannon to watch it for him.
Jin is then seen in the restroom. There is a man wearing a flowery hawaiian type shirt (very touristy looking). He tells Jin he works for his father-in-law Mr. Paik and that he was following Jin and Sun. He knew they were planning on running away. He warns Jin to deliver the watch to Mr. Paik's friend in California. If he fails, he would lose Sun. (This explains why he went crazy when he saw Michael wearing it, and Sun thought it was just because of pride...little did she know)
Later, we see Charlie and what he was doing before the flight. He is seen with a groupie in a hotel room. They have had a long night of partying...she is a bit still strung out. Lily, the groupie, begs Charlie for one more fix before he goes. Charlie offers her a signed copy of Drive Shaft's CD. She says she didn't want a CD from his piece of crap band which she called Drive Thru, Charlie corrects her - Shaft. Drive Shaft. Charlie hides what heroin he has left. This drives Lily crazy and she starts hitting Charlie. She calls him pathetic...
We then later see Walt and Michael in the airport. Walt is playing with a Game Boy Advance. Michael tells Walt not to worry about Vincent, that dogs fly all the time in the cargo hold, and that he would be fine. He leaves Walt playing and goes to make a phone call. We hear him telling his mother, he can't do this (take care of Walt), that it wasn't supposed to be like this. Walt wasn't supposed to be his. We also see in this flashback a shot of Locke in his wheelchair go by in the background. When Michael finishes up his call he turns and Walt is standing right there - leaving us wondering just how much of that conversation did he overhear. Walt tells Michael - he needs new batteries.
