Special Episode: Destination: Lost
Air Date: September 21, 2005 Written by: Steve Mulholland Narrated by: Peter Coyote
Narrated
in a linear fashion and culminating from the pieces of the back stories
told over multiple episodes in the series, "Destination Lost" focuses
on the flashbacks of a core of characters -- illustrating who they were
and what they were doing before the crash, and how the island has
changed their lives, for better or worse. In addition, the island
itself will be explored - culled from events that have taken place -
which may reveal some of its secrets that might have been missed upon
first viewing.
Again, as I did before with The Journey, I feel the narrated
portion gives us more to think about than the actual footage. So in
keeping with that, here is the narrated portion done by Peter Coyote:
Oceanic flight 815 Departing from Sydney to Los Angeles A flight like any other A plane full of strangers Amid them a doctor and a con-artist A solider and a lottery winner An addict and a prisoner But on route to its destination something goes wrong And somehow, 48 passengers survive They are complete strangers, stranded on a far away island Scared and waiting And the only thing more mysterious than the people they are stranded with Is the island itself A new day arrives, still no rescue But in the face of disaster, hope remains
The mysteries of the island begin to unfold And as one man looks for answers Another finds purpose What if your leader is a reluctant one? What if the pain he holds gets in the way? How great is the need for the leader to finally emerge? How do you survive on an island, when you don't know who to trust? Can vengeance be so blind, that a man is unable to see the man he has killed is not the man he sought? In the absence of law, 48 people coexist How common is the common man? Does he have potential? Does his destiny ultimately matter? In the search for answers to the island mysteries, they find proof they're not alone Scared and in danger, and looking for any way to get home With some determined to leave, the island reveals itself to others with a reason to stay A mysterieous hatch Is it the key to survival Or the path to destruction? As one ship sets sail Another provides needed supplies In the journey to the hatch danger threatens What does destiny hold for the survivors of Oceanic flight 815? And was it destiny that brought them to this place of mystery? Where does their salvation lie?
