The Swan Facility
A brief history of the hatch: Locke and Boone discover the buried hatch while searching for Charlie and Claire. They secretly attempt to open the hatch, without success. Later, after Boone's death and a threat from the Others, the Losties use dynamite from the Black Rock to blast open the exterior hatch door.
Descending into the hatch, the Losties discover Desmond, an outdated computer and an ominous timer. There also appears to be something magnetic. The Losties learn (a little) about the hatch's relationship to something called "The Dharma Initiative" through an orientation filmstrip. According to the filmstrip, the hatch is designed to house two people continuously for 540 days. Below is a list of items found within the Swan Hatch, and information on the iconography of the hatch.
