Sawyer's Parents

When he was a young boy, Sawyer's father shot is mother Laura and them himself.
Sawyer was hiding under the bed. He heard his mother get shot and saw his dad enter the bedroom and sit on the bed before pulling the trigger. ( The murder-suicide was apparently prompted by an affair that mom had with "the real Sawyer", as explained in the letter that Sawyer carries with him. The letter was written, according to Kate's guess, when Sawyer was 8 or 9 years old.

 

Jeannie

Locke told Sawyer and Kate that his sister Jeannie died while he was in foster care. She fell from the monkey bars, broke her neck and died when she was 6 years old.

 

 

Locke's Foster Mom

His foster-mother was despondent and wouldn't leave her room for weeks. A golden retriever walked into their house 6 months later, foster mom believed it was her daughter reincarnated. The lived happily until mom died 5 years later, the dog disappeared the same day. It is unclear from this exchange whether Jeannie was his real sister or foster sister.

 

Frank Duckett

Sawyer kills Frank Duckett: Fueled by the mistaken belief that the Shrimp Shack owner was "the real Sawyer," our Sawyer shot him to death with a 357 caliber handgun. The shooting occurred in Sydney, possibly soon after Sawyer crossed paths with Dr. Christian Shephard in a bar. Sawyer is plagued by guilt over the killing when he realizes he shot the wrong man.
