Kate & Sayid

Sayid is captured by the Americans and held prisoner.  Kate's step-father, Sam Austin, is the one who interrogates him and is also with him when they transport him to his drop-off point.   Sayid is also seen on a television in Sam Austen's recruitment office in What Kate Did.

Desmond & Sayid

Sayid is taught how to torture people to get information by a US operative named Inman.  He gives Sayid a torture box with equipment designed to inflict pain.  Inman paid Sayid to get information from his superior officer about the whereabouts of a captured US pilot.  Kelvin Inman was the man Desmond shared button-pushing duties with in the Swan Hatch as seen in Live Together, Die Alone.
